What is Urology?

Urology is a medical specialty in which a specially trained physician diagnoses and treats conditions and diseases of the urinary tract in men, women, and children, as well as the genital tract of men and children. This includes the diagnosis, treatment, and management of:

  • Abnormalities of the urinary and genital tracts in men and children

  • Bladder control and incontinence
  • Cancers of the bladder, kidney, prostate, testicle, penis, and urethra
  • Male infertility
  • Prostate diseases
  • Sexual dysfunction, impotence
  • Stone disease
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vasectomy and vasectomy reversal
